Study Group wins the PIEoneer 2021 award for Progressive Education Delivery

Study Group has been awarded the Progressive Education Delivery prize at the annual PIEoneer awards, which celebrate innovation and achievement in global education.

The PIEoneer Award recognises Study Group’s education innovations in China, through co-creating transformative and effective learning and welfare solutions directly with students.

The PIEoneer Award is a further accolade for Study Group, which was also recently named Education Investor’s Pathway Provider of the Year.

Responding to the news of the Award, Chief Executive of Study Group Emma Lancaster said:

“Throughout COVID-19, Study Group has increased its focus on the student's voice as an indication of need and a driver of innovation.

“An example of this is in China. Through our 24/7 engagement with students on 40 Study Group WeChat groups and via numerous personal interactions, Study Group identified opportunities - using channels already known to students - to overcome study and social isolation through local study hubs. We curated social interaction, new models of delivery, in-country employability, and offered psychological support.

“These channels include:

  • a Shanghai-based study hub for students progressing to the University of Sydney in partnership with the Shanghai Institute of Technology;
  • co-working spaces in China for Study Group students through WeWork; offline social and network-building activities via Airbnb in Chengdu, Shanghai, and Guangzhou;
  • dedicated mental health support sessions with psychologists on dealing with anxiety and concerns about life and study;
  • English corner, which is a weekly webinar hosted with a British tutor to help students practice English speaking and understand British culture and traditions.

“We are truly delighted to receive this award, which recognises the quality of the personalised education and wellbeing support provision offered to students in China in innovative, hybrid and flexible new ways.

“Thank you and congratulations to all at Study Group who have worked closely with our students to deliver the innovative education programmes recognised by this award.”

With a distinguished judging panel representing wide geographical and professional diversity, The PIEoneer Awards recognise both individuals and organisations who are pushing professional standards, evolving their engagement or redefining the international student experience. 2021 is the fifth year the awards have run.
